According to the Pantone Color Institute, ultra violet is a “provocative and thoughtful purple shade” that embodies individuality and spirituality. It’s bright, mysterious and imaginative, combining the stability of blue and the energy of red into a hue that has us seeing stars.

While it might not be a color that you wear daily or splash throughout every room of your home, it can pack a pretty punch without being overwhelming if you do it right. How will you incorporate Ultra Violet into your style in 2018? We’ll help you get started with three quick tips and lots of inspiration.

  1. Add metallic pieces and mirrored accents for a glamorous vibe. This will also help to keep your space light and airy, even though you’re using such a rich color.
  2. Pair Ultra Violet with other jewel tones like pink, teal, lime, orange and blue.
  3. Experiment with small violet-colored accessories first, like flower vases and buds, succulents, tableware, etc. If you love what you see, gradually move forward with larger accessories, like a velvety throw, couch cushion, area rug, bedding or pillows.
